Provisionally 20th October to 11th November 2023

Following the postponement of the Madagascar tour from 2023 to 2024, I propose to run a tour to NORTH PERU in its place. So I’m looking for 6 people to join me from 20th October to 11th November 2023. See the itinerary and bird potential on the downloads page.

Dates are provisional, check Facebook for latest information.

This has become a familiar and much loved tour to one of the most bird-rich countries in the world. This will be my 9th tour to North Peru, travelling from Tarapoto in the eastern foothills westwards across the Andes to the coast near Chiclayo. The North Peru Birding Route, as it is called, has a great many productive sites and can be varied to find the most in-demand species. Some of the most sought-after birds include Long-whiskered Owlet, Marvellous Spatuletail, Ochre-fronted & Pale-billed Antpittas, Maranon Crescentchest and Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. As well as birding, we visit the spectacular Gocta Falls, the archaeological site at Kuelap, the Mummies Museum at Leymebamba and the Pyramids at Tucume. We will use our regular local bird guide, Henry.
