19th May to 10th June 2025 with optional extensions

My next North Peru tour is due next year & a draft itinerary is available on the downloads page. I have left the 2023 one there as well as it lists the bird potential in more detail.

This has become a familiar and much loved tour to one of the most bird-rich countries in the world. This will be my 9th tour to North Peru, travelling from Tarapoto in the eastern foothills westwards across the Andes to the coast near Chiclayo. The North Peru Birding Route, as it is called, has a great many productive sites and can be varied to find the most in-demand species. Some of the most sought-after birds include Long-whiskered Owlet, Marvellous Spatuletail, Ochre-fronted & Pale-billed Antpittas, Maranon Crescentchest and Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. As well as birding, we visit the spectacular Gocta Falls, the archaeological site at Kuelap, the Mummies Museum at Leymebamba and the Pyramids at Tucume. We will use our regular local bird guide, Henry.
